Grow a Garden 2 Private Server Guide — Is It Free and How to Get One
Private servers are free in GAG2
Confirmed post-launch. No Robux or Roblox Premium required. Create one from the Servers tab on the Roblox game page.
Are Private Servers Free in Grow a Garden 2?
Yes. Private servers in Grow a Garden 2 are free for all players. Confirmed post-launch. No Robux spend and no Roblox Premium subscription required. This matches the approach from Grow a Garden 1, where private servers were also free.
This means every player can opt out of public-server night-phase PvP entirely at no cost by running a private server. You can still earn all mutations, weather bonuses, and experience normal game mechanics in a private server.
How to Create a Private Server in GAG2
Creating a private server in Roblox is done from the game page, not from inside the game itself. The standard process — which applies to most Roblox games including GAG1 — is:
- Open the Grow a Garden 2 game page on Roblox.
- Scroll down to the Servers section and look for a "Create Private Server" button.
- In GAG2, private servers are free. The button will show the creation option at no Robux cost and no Premium subscription required.
- After creating the server, you receive a private link you can share with people you want to invite.
This process is based on standard Roblox private server mechanics and applies to Grow a Garden 2.
Private Server vs Public Server for Farming
The practical difference between server types depends entirely on your goals:
| Feature | Public Server | Private Server |
|---|---|---|
| Night-phase theft risk | Yes — any player can raid | No — invite-only |
| Offline crop safety | At risk during every night cycle | Safe if server stays active |
| Mutations and weather | Normal | Expected normal (GAG1 precedent) |
| Guild cooperation | Full access | Limited to invited members only |
| Cost | Free | Free (confirmed post-launch) |
AFK Farming Safety in Private Servers
AFK (away-from-keyboard) farming — leaving the game running overnight with crops growing and sprinklers active — is confirmed to work in GAG2. Crops grow offline and can accumulate mutations while you are away.
The problem: on a public server, every night cycle that passes while you are AFK is a theft window. A highly mutated crop left undefended is a prime target. Since private servers are free in GAG2, switching to one is the easiest solution if you want to AFK farm without risk.
If you plan to AFK farm in a public server, the minimum you need before going offline:
- Fence perimeter + owner door (see the Defense Guide)
- At least one Venus Flytrap near your crops
- Gnome gear item active if you have one (it acts autonomously as a defensive item)
A private server eliminates all of this risk entirely at no cost — private servers in GAG2 are free (confirmed post-launch).
Context: GAG1 and Steal a Brainrot Private Server Models
Two games provide useful comparison:
Grow a Garden 1 has free private servers. Players can farm entirely alone or with friends at no extra cost. GAG2 follows the same approach: private servers are free for all players, confirmed post-launch.
Steal a Brainrot (a Roblox game with a similar steal mechanic that GAG2 draws design inspiration from) uses paid private servers. Strawberreh Squad chose a different route for GAG2 and kept private servers free, consistent with the studio's approach in GAG1.
